MapleStory 2, that writer Nexon America showed off Saturday at Los Angeles at the fan event MapleStory Fest, ditches the 4MS2 pixelated 2D visuals of the first game for a blocky 3D world, à la Minecraft or even Trove. Its course process isn't as varied as that of the original game yet, but Nexon stated in a news release that MapleStory two will be quite customizable, from the outfits to even getting to build your own home.

You'll definitely see familiar faces though they might be somewhat different from what you remember.

Fans interested in attempting MapleStory 2, that will be coming into Windows PC, can subscribe to the closed beta here if they are located in the Americas, Europe or Oceania. There's also a social networking campaign which allows players to unlock exclusive loot (such as the beta and for buy Maplestory Mesos the full release) by sharing particular pages on the website.

MapleStory 2 originally launched in South Korea in July 2015, and is slated to arrive globally shortly. The closed beta begins May 9.

It's a brand new measurement of MapleStory, which remains incredibly effective with over 273 million characters created to date.
